MOUNTAIN PROVINCE – The Cordillera Golfers Foundation, Inc. (CGFI) has resumed its outreach program with the delivery of six high-end android tablets to SPED Bontoc and held site inspection of the ongoing construction of a makeshift classroom for students of Mainit National High School where the group will extend financial assistance.
CGFI officials led by its president Arnel Peil and corporate secretary Marlo Quadra along with member Joel Awilan turned over the tablets to SPED students through Mountain Province Schools Division Superintendent Benilda Daytaca on Sept. 28.
SPED Bontoc Principal Rodolfo Basbas said the electronic gadgets will make an impact to the learners, as he announced the school currently has 254 pupils, 25 of them have disabilities.
Daytaca expressed hope CGFI will sustain its outreach program to the different parts of the Cordillera, especially in the depressed areas where the Department of Education needs partners from the private sector in advancing quality education.
She suggested to the CGFI to consider donating one satellite disk from Elon Musk’s Starlink for the Guina-ang NHS, also in upper Bontoc, where telecommunication signal is unstable.
She also thanked CGFI for choosing the Mainit NHS in the upper part of Bontoc as one of its beneficiaries.
At present, community residents and partners from the private and government sector are assisting faculty members of Mainit NHS in the construction of a makeshift classroom building on top of a mountain overlooking the village.
CGFI has pledged to donate close to P200,000 worth of assistance to ensure the completion of the makeshift classroom building that was planned in 2018.
Mainit NHS now has 60 students from grades 7 to 10, according to principal Evangeline Aowes.
Personnel of the PNP Special Action Force led by Capt. Marnetz Dawing and personnel of the Regional Mobile Action Force Battalion 15 are helping community residents in the construction works.
The police personnel were even inspired to assist the community after being informed that one of CGFI’s incorporators is M/Gen. Rudolph Dimas, who is the current PNP SAF commander.
Following its successful inaugural tournament last May, CGFI has pledged a financial assistance of P300,000 each to all the schools division offices in the Cordillera.
CGFI’s outreach program was rolled out last month with the donation of seven high-end laptops to seven schools in Abra.
CGFI also inspected the ongoing construction of a multipurpose building that will accommodate the senior pupils of Kimpit Elementary School in the remote village of Amlimay in Buguias, Benguet.
CGFI has allocated P300,000 for the completion of the multipurpose building that is being built through the initiative of community residents who wanted their children to finish their education.
CGFI will soon roll out its outreach program in Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga and Baguio City. – Harley F. Palangchao
