It’s all systems go for the second edition of the Cordillera Golfers Foundation, Inc. (CGFI) Invitational Tournament as the rules for the event has been officially dispatched to interested teams to compete on April 1 to 6.
More than 30 teams composed of four players each from abroad have registered and dozens of teams from all over the country are also listing for the tournament set in three courses – the Baguio Country Club, Camp John Hay Golf Club, and Pinewoods Golf & Country Club.
One of the unique features of the tournament is that a team maybe composed of a mix of male and female golfers.
Each team in the regular and seniors’ divisions is composed of minimum of four players with an option to include an alternate player. Team registration fee is P80,000 for four players and an additional P20,000 for each alternate team player.
CGFI will hand over team trophies to top three teams and individual awards in the various categories in the regular and seniors’ divisions.
Blue tee will be designated to all regular players while the seniors will be on the white tee. Lady golfers will use the red tee.
Request for tee time and flight mates will not be entertained, as the tournament committee reserves the right to arrange players in each flight and schedule tee times.
Practice rounds will be on April 1 to 3 with the welcome dinner set on the last day of practice rounds. Tournament proper is on April 4 to 6 and the awarding ceremony taking place on the 6th.
The lowest handicap index for each player will be taken between Nov. 1, 2023 to Jan. 30, 2024. Player with handicap index of 30.1 and above are ineligible to play.
The tournament will adopt the Stableford/PAL scoring system, where players have to pick up their ball after bogey to speed up play.
It’s also a four to play and four to count format both in the regular divisions classified into championship, A, B, and C categories while the seniors division will have class A and B. – Harley F. Palangchao
